Young@Heart
The group was formed in 2019 to provide somewhere for people to meet who may be lonely, socially isolated or just in need of a chat.
Since Lockdown the group has been even more valuable in improving the well-being of those involved.
Together we enjoy a wide range of activities including Art & crafts, chair aerobics, bingo, beetle, the occasional lunch, afternoon tea or day out. Sometimes we invite visiting crafts people to run creative workshops.
Last year these workshops included soap making, felting, Pontefract Calligraphy group, Forest school and bath bomb making.
The group really enjoy getting involved in community events and last year raised money for Ukraine, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and BIADS (Barnsley Independent Alzheimer and Dementia society)
They also planted trees and sewed thousands of metres of bunting to decorate the villages for the Queens Platinum Jubilee and gave much needed help with the Queens Platinum Jubilee Big Picnic Lunch Event.
